Behavioural Psychologist for Children

At CY&A Psychology, we understand how behaviour can impact a child’s development, family life, and emotional wellbeing. Whether your child is facing challenges at school, at home, or in social settings, our team offers compassionate, evidence-based support to help them move forward.

We provide behavioural psychology for children in a warm, welcoming space where they feel seen, heard, and safe. Every plan is designed around the individual needs of your child, drawing on a wide range of behavioural therapies delivered by experienced clinical psychologists.

Supporting Behavioural Needs with Care

Behavioural challenges can take many forms, from difficulties following instructions to emotional outbursts or patterns that impact everyday life. These behaviours often stem from underlying emotional or developmental concerns, which we take time to explore thoroughly.

Our approach starts with a careful understanding of what’s happening to your child and why. We work closely with families to make sense of the situation and to identify what might help ease the pressure both at home and beyond providing:

  • Focused support for emotional and behavioural difficulties
  • Strategies to reduce distress and build helpful habits
  • Guidance for parents and carers to support change together
  • Support for managing anxiety-related behaviours
  • Clear, collaborative planning shaped around your goals

Sessions may also include parenting support or family work where helpful. We’re here to provide tools and insight that not only address behaviour but also strengthen relationships.

Evidence-Based Behavioural Therapies

Our clinicians draw on a wide range of interventions to support children with behavioural concerns. These may include Behaviour Therapy, CBT, ACT, Compassion Focused Therapy and others depending on the situation and needs of the child. Every plan is adapted with great care to fit your child’s age, developmental stage, and strengths.

We are also experienced in working with children who are neurodivergent or who may face other developmental needs. Our adapted therapy models are designed to be engaging, practical and respectful of difference.

We provide support for:

  • Behaviours that are difficult to manage
  • Emotional regulation difficulties
  • ADHD and attention challenges
  • Anxiety-related behavioural responses
  • Tics and Tourette Syndrome

Treatment may involve direct work with your child, parent guidance, or a combination of both. Where suitable, we use tools like active seating, therapeutic resources and low-stimulus environments to ensure every session is comfortable and productive.

A Thoughtful Environment for Positive Change

Children engaging in therapy with us are welcomed into our calm, thoughtfully designed space in Marylebone. Many families tell us it feels more like a home than a clinic – something we’ve worked hard to create. This sense of safety and familiarity allows children to engage at their own pace.

For families preferring online sessions, we also offer remote appointments with the same personalised level of care. Whether you visit us in person or connect from home, our goal is always to support your child’s journey with kindness, structure and consistency.
