All of our Clinical Psychologists and Psychotherapists provide evidence-based psychological care for children, young people, young adults and families presenting with a wide range of emotional health challenges.

Some members of the team at CY&A Psychology have a background in paediatric psychology, at world-renowned institutions. They bring a sophisticated blend of medical and mental health expertise to our clinic, specialising in the intersection of physical and emotional wellbeing. They offer tailored interventions, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and family work specifically adapted for children navigating complex health journeys.

You may be seeking a clinician with this specific experience and expertise because you require someone who truly understands the medical trauma and procedural anxiety associated with chronic or life-limiting conditions (e.g., cardiac, endocrine, respiratory or rare diseases).

Paediatric Psychologist London

Our psychologists will help your family manage the psychological burden of a diagnosis, assisting your child in coping with treatments and supporting you through the challenges, providing a level of nuanced, specialist care.

We also have a number of Clinical Psychologists who are trained in EMDR, a well-recognised and evidence-based trauma treatment and experienced in delivering this for medical trauma. We see a number of children and families after their treatment journey, when they are in remission or recovered. We see children of all ages, we have a range of specialist medical toys and dolls to aid us in this work.

All of our team of clinicians are used to working with young people with specific phobias, including needles, scans and other medical procedures.

We are well versed in supporting siblings when families are going through difficult and distressing times.

We are happy to work alongside an existing medical team and schools too.

The first step is to get in touch so we can understand what you are looking for. Some families come with a clear idea of the help they need, while others want a single session to talk things through. Either way, we will guide you to the right clinician and next step.

How We Work With You and Your Child

Your initial appointment is a time to build a full picture of your child and your family. We ask about current concerns, past history, and what you hope will change. We may also use simple measures to help guide our understanding and to track progress over time.

From this, we agree on clear goals and a treatment plan together. We also suggest a number of sessions based on need, with regular informal reviews to check progress and make sure the work stays on track.

Evidence Based Treatments We Offer

Our clinicians are trained in a wide range of therapies that are well supported by research. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, among others. The choice of approach is guided by your child’s needs and the nature of the difficulties.

We also offer support such as Behaviour Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, Habit Reversal Therapy, Mentalisation-Based Therapy, and Narrative Exposure Therapy. For younger children and families, we provide Narrative Therapy, Theraplay, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, and family and parenting support.

This wide range of options allows us to match the right method to the right person, while keeping the work clear, focused, and practical for everyday life.

A Welcoming Space in Marylebone

Our townhouse in Marylebone has been designed to feel calm, comfortable, and safe for children and families. Many young clients say it feels like a home, which helps them settle and take part more easily in sessions.

The space is kept low in stimulation, with soft lighting and calm colours. We also offer active seating options for children who find it hard to sit still, so they can stay comfortable and focused during their time with us.

Tools and toys are used with care and only when they are helpful for the child’s age and needs. This keeps the space welcoming and suitable for young people of different ages.
