Narrative Therapy is a form of systemic therapy that is particularly well suited to working with young people and families. At the centre of this approach is you as the expert in your own life and own family and that the difficulties you face are separate from you; the problem is the problem not you or your family, which in particular can really engage young people with the therapy.

Narrative therapy looks to you and your existing strengths, commitments, values, abilities that you have to reduce the impact of problems on you, your family and your life. Stories are a key focus; the re-telling or re-scripting of our own story can be a powerful experience. Sometimes we need to ‘thicken up’ a ‘thin’ story in order to help ourselves engage with our life differently. Narrative therapy is commonly used with difficulties like enuresis and encopresis, bullying and problems in school, separation and divorce, anger, eating issues, explosive behaviour. All of our Clinical Psychologists practice Narrative Therapy. More information can be found at https://dulwichcentre.com.au/what-is-narrative-therapy/
