We are a PEERS® certified provider. PEERS® for adolescents is an evidence-based social skills programme for adolescents interested in making and keeping friends and handling conflict and rejection. Participants are taught social skills through didactic lessons and role play demonstrations, practice during group socialisation activities and through parent participation. Parents learn how to assist their children in making and keeping friends.
In this 16 week group programme, we cover developing and maintaining friendships; conversational skills and electronic communication; entering and exiting conversations; appropriate use of humour; handling disagreements, teasing and bullying; being a good sport and changing a reputation and organising get-togethers.
Evidence-Based Social Skills Programme
PEERS® is internationally recognised & has over 30 ‘gold standard’ research trials evidencing its effectiveness.
Parents as Social Coaches
While your child is in their group, you are in a the parent group learning ways to help your child build their social skills.
Working in Partnership with Schools
We also work collaboratively with schools to ensure the benefits of PEERS® extend beyond the clinic.
Supporting Meaningful Change
Through specialist facilitation and parent involvement, the PEERS® programme helps young people build skills, confidence and meaningful friendships.
Young people take part in a small, supportive group across 16 structured sessions, where social skills are taught, practised and reinforced in a safe and encouraging environment. We teach practical, real-world skills for making and keeping friends, managing conversations, handling conflict and navigating social situations with confidence through a mix of didactic lessons, role play demonstrations and practice during group socialisation activities.
Parents and carers are a vital part of the PEERS® approach. During the programme, parents attend a parent/carer group each session with both groups coming together at the end. Parents are supported to act as ‘social coaches’, helping their child practise new skills in everyday situations.
Our goal is simple but powerful: to help young people build the social skills and friendships that can transform their lives.
Please check our events page to register your interest or book a place – the cost is £1800 for the programme, which includes a place for the young person group and a place for the parent/carer group.” If you book a place we will offer an assessment before accepting you and your child onto the programme. Please note that the adolescent and parent groups run concurrently and the parent group is an essential component of the programme.
