Clinical Psychologist Private Practice

When you’re searching for mental health support for your child or young adult, you want to be certain that the care you’re accessing is professional, ethical and grounded in sound clinical practice. One way to know this is to check whether your psychologist is registered with the HCPC.

At CY&A Psychology, every Clinical Psychologist on our team is HCPC registered. This is part of our commitment to high standards of care for children, adolescents, young adults and families across London.

What Is the HCPC?

The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is the UK’s independent regulator for clinical psychologists and other healthcare professionals. Its purpose is to protect the public by setting and upholding clear standards for education, clinical conduct and ongoing professional development.

Any professional using the title “Clinical Psychologist” in the UK must be registered with the HCPC. It’s a legal requirement. This ensures that they have completed accredited doctoral-level training and meet the standards expected for safe and effective practice.

Why HCPC Registration Matters

Seeing an HCPC registered clinical psychologist gives you confidence that your clinician has undergone rigorous training, adheres to ethical codes, and keeps up with current evidence-based practice.

At CY&A, this underpins everything we do. From your first contact with us through to treatment sessions and ongoing reviews, you’ll be working with highly experienced psychologists who are fully qualified and legally recognised by the HCPC. We believe this is essential when it comes to supporting emotional wellbeing at any stage of development.

Our Approach To Safe, Regulated Care

We know that the decision to seek psychological support is not always an easy one. Whether you’re a parent worried about your child’s emotional health or a young adult looking for space to make sense of things, you deserve a service that feels professional, respectful and reassuring from the outset.

That’s why our clinicians always work within the HCPC’s professional framework while offering a warm, child-centred and flexible approach. Our team shares a strong commitment to ethical practice and thoughtful care that’s grounded in evidence and clinical understanding.

Not Just Qualified - Experienced

Being HCPC registered is a baseline. At CY&A Psychology, our clinicians go beyond that. Many have held senior roles within NHS CAMHS teams or worked in specialist services across education, health and social care. Their collective experience spans trauma, anxiety, neurodevelopmental conditions, mood difficulties and complex family dynamics.

But what matters most to our clients is the experience of being heard, understood and supported with care. That’s where our team excels.

How To Check a Psychologist’s HCPC Registration

You can search the public HCPC register at any time via the official HCPC website. Simply enter the clinician’s name to verify their status. All psychologists at CY&A are listed and if you ever have questions about what this means, we’re happy to explain.
